Ed-Zoo-Cate

Saturday, January 19, we spent an hour at ZooMontana with Troy, learning about animals and how some have made adaptations for survival.

First, we met the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches!  Alexis F got to hold one and show it around to the other girls.

Next he brought out Harry, the Ball Python Snake.  Harry was getting close to shedding his skin, so we didn’t get to pet him.

Then Troy brought out a Savannah Monitor, name Zuri.  We learned Zuri uses her tail as a weapon.  We got to pet her back – using 2 fingers, just like we did when we met Harry for the first time last spring.

Then we met Gable the Great Horned Owl.  We learned that owls have 14 bones in their neck (most animals have 7).  We also got to feel one of his feathers and learned that owls are silent fliers.
